AFT • A Window On Central Pennsylvania
And you thought YOU had it bad. This birch tree was saddled with the misfortune of growing in what was once a slim crack in this huge boulder. Well, it would appear it’s made the best of a difficult situation by growing against all odds and actually sliding the “small” piece of the rock (probably about a TON) by its now massive roots reaching down into the surrounding soil. Such patience and power! The spectacle is located up on a ridge between Sawdust and Panther Hollows, just off the AFT’s beaten path.
